Abstract

A monogram holds great significance for any institution. In the case of Dhaka University, the monogram serves as the primary visual symbol of its institutional identity. This educational institution has not only functioned as a school but also as a witness to the socio-cultural and political rise and evolution of a town for a century. The documentary elements of this emblem are also reflected in its monogram, which has undergone three changes in form and design over fifty years since its creation. This article primarily discusses the evolution of the monogram's design and the context of these changes. Additionally, it attempts to analyze the various symbolic elements depicted in these monograms from a visual perspective, such as color, line, texture, and letters.
